The Legacy
V. P. Sathyan
Captain of India, AIFF Player of the Year, and an enduring inspiration to football communities.
Vatta Parambath Sathyan was a commanding defender and respected leader who captained India, represented Kerala in the Santosh Trophy, and earned the 1992 AIFF Player of the Year award.
Read his story
Beginning with Kerala in 1983, Sathyan represented India in major international competitions and played for Kerala Police, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Mohun Bagan, and Indian Bank. He captained the national team during the 1991 World Cup qualifiers, led India to gold at the 1995 SAF Games, and guided Kerala to the 1992 Santosh Trophy title.
His dedication, skill, and leadership continue to inspire generations. The V.P. Sathyan Memorial Tournament honors that legacy through competitive football, fellowship, and community.
